kissa tanto

japanese|italian fusion in the heart Chinatown

website: kissa tanto

overview: amazing cocktails and food and one of the best meals we've had in a while. sharing plates and ambience make it great for a date night. we'll be back!

event: double date

day: friday night

covid accommodations:

  • physical distancing between tables

  • seating times

  • hand sanitizer at every table

menu:

  • japanese|italian fusion

  • sharing plates

  • nightly specials

get:

cocktails:

  • my private tokyo: sweet with tart plum candy rim - so good!

  • vermouth americana: first time drinking vermouth straight

  • extra: they get their ice shipped in and it's totally clear in the drink - we couldn't get enough of this....

food: their entire menu was delicious, but here are a few that you have to try!

  • pickle plate: a plate of assorted vegetables picked in different flavours. very fun!

  • tonno mantecato: that bruschetta with tobiko tho

  • garganelli: white ragout of duck with orange, ginger, shiso, fried shallots, sesame. sweet meat wins again

thoughts:

one of the best meals we've had in a while! amazing cocktails paired with delicious food and great company! they really combined the best of japanese and italian flavours; tart pickled veggies with savoury meats, asian style sweet meat with creamy italian pasta. there are several japanese|italian fusion restaurants now in vancouver but kissa tanto has the added attention to details, like their tobiko bruschetta, a variety of pickled vegetables, different breads served with the appetizers, that makes it stand out! we're looking forward to our next visit!

great for:

date night
